Sorry I've been remiss here. The snow got me down. But it's the weekend and I've got some roadtrips in front of me (there may be some more snow storms, but I'm trying to suppress that info). Here are some photos from my recent trip to New York to celebrate the weekend. I am celebrating because I thought I ruined a couple rolls of film, but I got them salvaged. Yay! I had a bit of a late night last night. I went to see Langhorne Slim with my friend Julie. We got there way too early and ended up standing around longer than either of us were prepared to do. But Langhorne and his band were as rollicking as I had heard. They were high energy and charming and played for an hour and a half. It was great, even if we were tired. (Though I still feel sorry for having us stand around for so long.) This morning was rough though. I thought that some pancakes were in order, banana pecan pancakes to be precise. And coffee, which was a gift from a Flickr friend. Along with some magazines, I listened to the Valentine's Day mix I made. You can listen to it here.
This week has sort of slipped through my fingers and I suddenly find it's Friday. For some reason snow storms often make me forget the world. My parents are visiting my sister, so I've been in my head all week.
Today I am officially over the snow. While we did not get the dumping the eastern seaboard got (my apologies to my friends in DC), but we got a good amount. I've spent part of today trying to start one car and failing, getting another car started and dug out, only to get it repeatedly stuck. I'm over it. I have friends coming over for dinner and need to figure out how to get to the store and back so I have something to serve. So let's pretend it's summer again. I got some medium format photos back from this summer. They were taken with my plastic Holga camera in Wisconsin. It's nice to pretend sometimes.
My young neighbors were very ambitious. Check out their giant snowman! He's like 6 ft. tall! If you can't tell, those are oranges for the eyes and slices of cucumber make up the mouth. Giant! I'm glad they are enjoying our piles of snow.
Snow, about a foot, but at least the sun came out and the plow made it to the house.
I went to New York this past weekend. I visited my friend Allison, who works for a certain crafting mogul, who I *may* have seen coming out of the elevator. I visited also with my blogging friend Kathleen. She showed me around where she lived and we had lunch and some lovely blueberry pie she made. (More on that later.)
The weekend was cold (bitterly on Saturday), but got warmer. It was full of walking and more walking, lovely, lovely food, lots of stories swapped and laughter, several excellent movies. It was a lot of fun, but I am very tired. I may have screwed up a roll and a half of film, but I'm trying to get it salvaged. I may have been jeered at by a guy in the photo development place for using film. Fingers crossed. More stories as the film comes back.
